Working parents are a diverse group of people I look to when thinking about future workforce needs.
Their (our) complex needs and constant juggle between work and other life demands can be challenging for any employer. Taking time to better understand those needs is always a worthwhile investment. If you’re closer to meeting their needs, you’re more likely to create an employee experience that works for anyone!
Since October 2021, I’ve been bringing us together, in this working parents network community, providing a regular, guilt-free place to talk about our unique joys and challenges.
Every six weeks(ish!) I host a free online event, with a special guest, to give us a valuable topic to explore. There is connection, fun, warmth and insight and no-one leaves without a meaningful next step to help them on their way.
It’s all about meeting the needs of working parents, figuring out what we can do for ourselves and what support we need from our organisations and communities. We notice differences, as well as themes, so we’re better placed to figure out how to make the juggle more achievable.
Some of the topics we’ve covered include:
Better parental leave and support - with Stephanie Pow
Parent as leader - with Dina Cooper
#workschoolhours - with Dr Ellen Joan Ford
Aligning self-family-work - with Jane Chater
Navigating life and work wholeheartedly - with Sharne Fairbrother
Sign up to the Working Parents Network and you’ll get a newsletter designed just for us, every six weeks, alongside your invitation to our regular events.
